Our Trip To North Carolina

We just returned from our fantastic trip to visit Grammy and Pappy in North Carolina. Sofia was a trooper both flying into and out of NC. We had some pretty long flights and she did amazing. We were very proud of her. She is a social butterfly and says hi to anyone who will look at her; actually they don't even have to look at her lol. She really had a blast in NC. She saw an old mill, visited a childrens museum where she walked around hundreds of butterflies, pet a cow, and played in the children's area. Sofia also went to the NC zoo which was....of course....her favorite. It was so adorable because she has learned all the parts of her face so when she saw the elephants she said "nose" and pointed to the elephant and then to her Grammy's nose. If you notice she is wearing a hat in all her pictures. This is her newest and possibly one of her cutest phases. She has to have a hat. It started with a kitty beenie she loved to wear when she was sick. Now if there is any hat in site she wants it on. She already has her own sense of fashion just like I did. (for anuty Kelly, aunty Laurie, mom and Cody...there will be many Jamaican outfits in her future...just like the one I wore that you'll never forget :))I know we've listed all the words she knows, but they're just to many to count. Her daddy's favorite is "flowees" for flowers and mine still has to be "mama" because she is actually saying it now :) she is such a joy and enriches our lives so much every single day. We're really looking forward to her mini easter egg hunt tomorrow.

Zach is headed back to class on Monday. He only has a little over two months for his current class and then goes straight into the next. Everything in Monterey is status quo and doing wonderful!

Milk Does a Body Good

Just some super cute pictures of Sofia. Such a proud girl as she learns to master the art of walking!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Though Sofia is only 1/8 Irish it is still fun to celebrate her heritage with her! She has been so sick the last couple days, but woke up so happy today. Its almost like she is relieved that she is feeling better. We've never seen her so sick (though it is much less sick then other babies I've seen). Her bright and cheerful spirit never faded through any of it though. She was more sad that she was too weak to walk or play. She just snuggled with her mommy and daddy and ate Cheerios! She was such a trooper and i think we're through the worst of it.

She is an amazing walker now..walking all around the house. We had to do some rearranging so she could go more places. She talks all the time, almost having complete conversations with us. She has a very large vocabulary for a 14 month old, for which we are very proud! She still has a big passion for animals and now knows all the sounds (video will be posted later).

Its going to be a father Daugherty weekend this weekend, then she'll be off to her Pop Pop and Nonna's for a couple days. Sofia is such a big girl and such a great traveler.

Sofia Colors

I read somewhere recently that kids Sofia's age should be able to use crayons (or at least attempt t0). Usually we tell the Waiter "no thank you" as Sofia would just try to eat them. On Thursday we decided to show her how to use a coloring and this is the masterpiece that resulted!! She had a ton of fun. Her attention span is short of course, but she really did enjoy it and she was very proud!

This week

This week was super fun with Sofia. I took her swimming which she always loves. Then we went to the SPCA where she got to see all her favorite animals. It really made me miss Kitty Meister!! I got a little teary when we went into the cat room and Sofia got all excited. One cat actually came up to Sofie and I and just purred and snuggled. Sofia couldn't be more happy. She also walked BY HERSELF all over the facility. It was adorable and she was so proud. Today she had buttered noodles for lunch and managed to get most of the butter in her hair. When Zach got home he thought that I actually had her in the rain too long, but nope...just very greasy hair. She's learned a couple more words this week too:

"ssss" - snake
"aff" - flower or leaf
"zzzz" - any insect
"fuly" - butterfly

I'm sure there is more that I'm just not remembering. I wish all of you could experience the amazing joy she gives everyone she touches!

Already Such a Girly Girl

Just today Sofia discovered a purse. I took it off of her thinking that maybe it was a mistake, but to my surprise she put it right back on. You'll notice she is making a super cute face in the pictures. Well she is learning how to say "cheese" when taking a picture. Such a doll!!

Sofia is Walking

This may not be the picture of Sofia waking (video to come) but she took her first real couple of steps yesterday, February 20, 2010. She actually took one step a week ago and here and there a step, but the day I got back from the trade show she took at least five steps back and forth between her daddy and I. She was so proud of herself it was just amazing to see. What a sweet little girl to wait until I got back home!! She doesn't walk all over yet, but that will come soon. She grows so quickly and is perfectly fitting into her 18 month clothes. She says so many words!! Here is her current vocabulary:

Ow or Yow: Cat
Hoo: Owl
Woof: Dog
ph ph or zit: Rabbit
poppop: Grampa
zoo: Shoes
Hi
Yee: plane
moo: Cow
wassat?: What is that
Waff: waffle
baff: Bath or nap
maaaa: Mom
Dada: Dad

That is what she says but she understands sooooo much more. She will wipe her face and hands on cue, get a book, put an object in or take it out of something and much much more.
